I don't think I've been way up in the high mountains in more then 3 months now, so I decided that this week I'll venture up that way, as the weather was going to be good til Friday I'm hearing. I saw a lot of deer and elk over in the Gunnison valley and I see I'm not the only guy who doesn't wait for the next rest stop or gas station either. When you gotta go you gotta go.

I was gonna tell you about the snow totals, but decided to let you see for yourself, haha! Yeah good weather for a few days and the roads should be in good shape, but big danger from avalanches right now. If you get caught in one, be sure and get some pics, haha!

Once on Berthod I came down on a slide maybe 15 minutes in front of me on the Empire side. We all had to turn back and I took the roads that go all the way back to the front range that goes back down to Fort Collins to get home. That was mess getting vehicles all turned the other way. Big trucks all had to wait until it was cleared off I think? Couldn't see how they'd get turned around easily. I - 70 was unbelievably quiet when I was going up it yesterday around noon.

That buck doesn't look like he's suffering from lack of feed.

No he doesn't. This Gunnison valley supports deer and elk very well. Probably some of the best grazing land in all of Colorado is found in this valley.

I started going first and then he did. My dog does the same thing. I go and then he goes. That way I can get him back in the house and get back to watching TV instead of going back watching TV and then having to come back to let him back in the house ten minutes later. It's like the two birds with one stone theory. In the case of the deer I think it was piss'n match I must have started.
