On my way back home I took a 3/4 mile detour off hwy 9 to take the loop around the town of Guffey, Colorado. The girls in town acted little surprised that I would whistle at em. Maybe they don't get much of that around this town? It's well worth the 15-20 minutes to take the tour of this odd little town if you ever find yourself in the area.

That is pretty cool. You don't see too many of the old cars still sitting around. They usually are hauled off to the scrap yard. Looks like most of the radiator emblems have been removed, but see an early 50s buick, a studebaker next to it, a 29' Pierce, and a 36 chevy. Feel sory for the guy in the cage, I guess the GrimReaper Has got him.

Great pictures. There is a stretch where there was some old houses there that I would love to get permission to detect. They have a chicken fly contest that is a lot of fun.

So that's a Pierce? There were a few more old cars all around that town, which is a fifth the size of the whole development I live in.

Now these are some great pics! I would love to get to spend a day there and see what it has to offer. I bet there are some real characters still living there?

They are at that. Their yard art says it all. I've known of the place for many years now and would visit it from time to time when I lived in the area. I've always liked South Park. 35, plus years ago I'd be exploring all over this region with a 1965 International Scout I purchased in around 1978 from a farmer in Iowa. When I bought it from him it had hardly ever left his farm and it had only twelve thousand miles on it. It ran like a sewing machine. I drove it across Nebraska at a top speed of 55 to maybe 70 mph going down hill all the way to ten thousand feet in elevation. I'd take that thing all over the mountain back roads. I put a NOS Warn overdrive i found in it and it get around even better in the lesser traveled mountain passes. Its still around I think in Buena Vista, Colorado?. I was leaving the area for good and this fella who owns an excavating company in BV is a IH fanatic. I drove it over to him and said I have this 65 and another 64 scout, plus my 1949 IH 2 Ton wood hauler truck all for 800 bucks. He didn't even try to negotiate and said I'll take em all. The 49' is still parked in front of his shop to this day.
