I had a busy day up in the Alpine today. First pictures are at an old mine that shut down in the 1980s that me and one of my pard's went to do some picking of some of the old equipment as the place is gonna be cleaned up. Around 1984 I went to this mine looking for a job as I got the 3rd layoff phase at a mine I was working at, but they hired all they wanted from the guys who got the 1st and 2nd layoffs before I got the axe. The other pictures are of a small startup mine operation that's up high at 11'500 feet. The machine is called a drill jumbo and it has a hydraulic rock drill that drills a face blast hole pattern to drive a tunnel in hard rock mining. It seems ever time I go really high up and head back down to the front range in a day I can't fall asleep as it's 1:30 AM and I'm wide awake. ???
