Yesterday I went to a company party of one of the Mining contractors I do business with. They built this roaster using some of the parts I sold them. The rod with the fork or shaft as it's now being used is a 7/8" hex drill rod that's used in a Jackleg drill and it couples into the chuck that's in the Jackleg drill that's connected to the drive mechanism. The fancy trunnions were taken from an old 19th century foot treadle industrial sewing machine. They cooked some turkey and the pig and boy that is scrumptious.
