Nice encounter. I saw some mule deer out in a field just off the E470 toll road bringing my daughter back from the airport during the holidays. Not often you see any deer here on the high plains of the front range. It's all pretty much house's and highways now. One of these days I'm gonna take a trip out to the old Rocky Mountain Arsenal. The place has been fenced in since WWII and they'll never develop it because the government injected all kinds of nasty left over bionic warfare stuff in the ground, but now it's a wildlife sanctuary in the midst of a big modern developed urban world.

That's a more difficult question than it appears to be. Scientifically speaking, antler shed is tied to testosterone levels. When they drop enough, they'll start to shed. Generally speaking, anytime from January to March or so up here. For the Texans on here, we have determined that mule deer turn into elk at 10,500ft. elevation.
