Newbie in town..

The first time I saw him was 2 days ago in the sunny rain





Then this afternoon pigging out on the suet..




I would like him to stay around and teach him a few sounds to mimic,they're such a cool bird.




These little guys take a break from all the seeds and nip a blossom or 2.



Earlier I went MDin (with my camera of course) and I see this guy poking around some logs,so I SLOWLY took my gloves off,lowered my detector by the ear phone cord,turned my camera on and got this shot,a second later he looked up and saw me...GONE.




I did get a first and probably never again,a 1954 Greek 2 Drachma..

Mockingbirds are my state bird. For what reason I Don't know. They try to run all other birds off.

Interesting find and nice bird pics. I put a feeder beside a window on my house and have seen goldfinches, purple finches, cowbirds, red head woodpeckers (3 generations), black cap chickadee, grackles, cardinals and several other I don't know. They make a great addition to a yard. Robins are in abundance but never eat from the feeders they only eat from the ground.

I had to look up Colorado's state bird, because I never knew what it was. It's a Lark Bunting and I can't say I've ever seen one around. We should replace that bird with something more abundant then a bird you never see.
