I see them (or Similar Types "BIG" ) from time to time usually at brightly lit Gas Stations or Stores around Sun Rise , see them Big Beetles sometime also.

They are beautiful Creatures indeed.

Do they sting?

On occasion I have rubbed against something on a bush or Tree the either stung me or gave me a weird mild electric shock feeling & never saw what it was.

Dang Yellow jackets have got me the last to hunts ; One right in the back of the Head , it got me in the space between my Hat & the size adjuster, & still hurt hours later. I was on a strong target at the time as well . FWIW.
