Muscadine Jelly

Every year after "Labor Day', we go to the mountains
& look for 'Muscadines', they are a wild relative of the grape.
they grow on vines that climb anything they can reach, often in
very high treetops, (we shake the tree, or wait until they fall.)
They are delicious eaten raw, & make great jelly.
This year we had a 'killing frost', & not many will make this year, one year I filled a large paper grocery bag from one vine.
One place in AR makes wine from them.

I have never had Muscadine Jelly. But if it is as good as Muscadine Cider, it is awesome.

Neat to be able to pick them wild and enjoy them all winter, brings back memories of warmer weather. Sorry the frost got to them .

used to make wine out of it.

Yeah the frost got most of the fruit this year, had a
few plums in our yard, but it will be tough on the animals
this year, (not much to eat), in the wild.

Sounds interesting, folks around here seems to make jelly and wine out of most anything. I make [corn-cob jelly]. Thank for tye post.

Great memories Fossis > as a child we would drive the tobacco harvester along the sides of the woods. Picking and eating the graves that climbed high into the trees. Our mothers would make grape jelly with our gatherings and my mom would make my favorite > grape hull preserves

Yep, Great memories, we still make 'Muscadine' &
'Blackberry' & 'plum' jelly when we can.
