cool pics

the moon looses some of its romance when you see it close up though. My favorite is the harvest moons. Do they look different in the telescope then the one you showed?

You are right; the moon does lose some of the romance close up :'(

The harvest moon can appear different even thought it is really all the same moon. It is more noticable to the naked eye as being a "special moon" in September. It behaves in a special way since normally throughout the year the moon rises about 50 minutes later each day, but for the harvest moon it is only 30 minutes later. When looking at the low hanging moon in the east tonight it just might appear to be HUGE for you; as it is the "Moon Illusion" where it only appears bigger, or closer but actually it is all the same :) It may also have a redish hue to it.

I hope to take a few naked eye picks of our harvest moon this month. It is coming up fast...

Here is a daytime moon shot from earlier in the month.

Great shots, I'd like to try the telescope. I took some day shots myself, I'll have to share.

Thanks for the information on the Harvest moon. It is a spectacular view.

Hey Davinci...those are really great shots. You can almost make out Tommy Lee Jones sitting against that rock watching the earth since they actually sent him there when making "Space Cowboys" ::)
