These photos were all taken within 72 hours. Last Friday I was up west of Jamestown Colorado, which is about an hours drive from home. It was sunny, warm and not a cloud in the bright blue sky and temps on the front range in the 60s. A few days before the mountains received their real first even covering of snow. Yesterday as I promised my dogs we'll go for a long walk around the Erie Colorado lake, which is in walking distance from home. You can see the sun has melted much of the snow on Longs peak. As we walked around the lake the temps headed again in to the 60s. and I even saw a turtle enjoying the warmth of the sun on a concrete pipe sticking out of the water. We also saw a couple of mallards feeding off the bottom of a small pond that sits between busy hwy 287 and the Erie lake. As the sun went down yesterday the winds began to blow and the temps fell like a rock leaving a snow covered ground. It's 20 degrees this morning and the expected high is 27. diffidently football weather today. It's all a part of what they say when you hear the term "Crazy Colorado Weather". I'm going to Iowa this coming Wednesday and the weather forecast does look good for my drive across Nebraska. Hopefully I'll see some eagles along the way as I've noticed more of them along the Platte river across Nebraska in the recent drives I've taken out that way.

I'm glad you and all the critters were able to enjoy a beautiful day. It may be one of the last ones of the year. Great photos and narrative!
