Camped here west of Buena Vista this week. Maria likes pay campgrounds sometimes, so cruised through about 5 others and kept heading south and found plenty of open sites here. Which inspires me to say some words about the camp site reservation system in Colorado and the increasing camp fees, but I won't cause it would be unprintable. Great place to camp especially in the fall due to the large numbers of aspens in the campground that change colors. Lots of mosquitos. Lots of fish in the lake who were amused by my attempts to catch them.

Cottonwood Lake, heck I forgot about that place we'd go to a lot when I lived in BV. There's all kinds of places to camp along down here. Panhandlers are very welcome to setup shop in my town and I see them camping under the tall trees in the industrial areas all the time and no fee required. Only time I see the cops getting in the middle of the campers is when they start gathering in groups and they'll have the campers break it up. I can see why as that does have the look of a possible riot in the works when they join together..... Do you know if Cottonwood Pass is again open?

Beautiful country, nice pics. The water levels look like June, instead of August.

Yeah the sign said it's open all the way across now, same width and length restrictions.

I was up there just a week before this.

We were all over the BV area. Everything from Mosquito pass south to Marshall, Gunnison to Salida. One of my favorite areas anywhere in the world
