I was scouting a State property, for future metal detecting, and came across a flooded old rice field, loaded with bird life. I hurried home for my camera gear.
Only 25 minutes from home, I went right back a got a few nice shots. I returned on Veteran's day for a some more pics. Enjoy.

A crew of Wood Storks, taking a siesta. This was a 200 yard shot, and I had to crop the heck out of it to get anything.

Nice shot s. I didn't see many egret's around home this year. Stork's I don't believe ever migrate here.

There's a large resident population of storks that spend most of their time along the coast. Most of the state's large estuaries are reserves or sanctuaries, open to the public, much of the area foot or boat travel only. The particular location is a reserve, and all of these photos were taken sitting in my truck, window camera mount, 150-500mm lense cranked into the stops.
