What about Bob? (Foxy news)

This young fox has a bob tail, it has had it since the poppa fox first brought it around in June. I don't know if it's a birth defect or got bitten off. Maybe proof the bobcats are mating with the foxes again (LOL). Didn't have quite as many foxes here this year and poppa fox disappeared after mid July and mama shortly after. There were four pups and there seem to still be three around including Bob but they are not as trusting as pappa fox whom I had fed for two years was. Photos taken with an iphone which doesn't do well on small animals at a distance my coolpix is broken so sorry there isn't better definition. Foxes are hard to see further off when napping or hanging out due to matching the fall leaf colors almost perfectly. Third pic Bob is stalking a slice of bacon. Photos seem to be sideways again, gotta click them a couple times to get them large and oriented correctly. Don't know why this is happening to the photos.

Didn't know what I was looking at at first. Funny how the eyes play tricks until one gets some perspective by reading what you wrote. At first I saw a tick on the skin of a fox. (Ooo… it's 12:15. I can start drinking now!).

His balance seems fine, I wonder if he (or she, I don't know) will be able to sleep warm when it gets really cold since they curl their tails around their bellies to their faces when they do.

Might be genetic. Many housecats in Vietnam don't have tails. When I first got to Vietnam I thought people were cutting off the tails but found out later it was normal.

I don't believe a bobbed tail is a genetic trait of any fox species. Their
tail helps with balance when they are chasing prey. Also looked at many
images of different fox(s) in Vietnam, and all of them had full tails.

Could be that fox got an infection in it's tail, and a portion of it was
lost as a result.

Or as Momma was getting rid of the afterbirth, she nipped the tail off.
