Camped in Penitente Canyon last night and hiked over to check out a location about a mile SW of camp. Well that turned in to about a 4 mile stroll due to the terrain, the meandering way I hike, and since I'm a man I don't need more than a cursory glance at a map if any at all. (I found out there was a road that went to within a quarter mile of where I wound up.) Located a rock shelter with pictographs on the back wall. Spotted a few flakes around there but the coolest thing I spotted was the tiniest little turquoise bead.

There is some very nice rock art in the Valley. I love stuff like that. I never made it up to see the crane in the cave a little south of there. There is quite a bit down there. There is a bridge east of Antinito that crosses the Rio. It has a couple of drawings on the rocks on the west side. I heard there was an Indian war around the little Butte and I did find a nice spearhead down there. Great pictures!!!

IMG_5641.JPG Another cool place to check out when down there is Lime Kiln but it is more of the desert kind of country.

6-24e.jpg Wouldn't open the attachment, cyzak, but thanks for the info. You know that 'paper doll' type glyph appears in more than one place here in the valley. I've seen it in Utah too. Still tryin to figure out what it means.
