    Carp Fishing

I have been doing a lot of carp fishing the last few years, fishing a local syndicate and getting a few of the bigger fish.

My Carp catches are incidental to Salmon fishing using sand shrimp/bobber in inlets on the Columbia River. Gets me psyched when the bobber goes down because they fight deep like a Chinook, disappointment when you see the gold when they roll, but a fun fight!

A carp is a strong fish, when they decide to turn.

We used to bow fish for carp out of a canoe. You stick a big one in the side and it WILL pull the canoe. Gary

When I was a kid we would bow fish for them in the river close to my house. Also we caught them while cat fishing. They do put up a fight.

It would seem we are now up a famous tributary without any means of locomotion.

In the 1950's/60's Dad and his friends would bow fish for them in the irrigation ditches in Yakima WA - then sell them to a fertilizer plant there for .03# - paid for the beer!
