for a dead german soldier from late in WW2 he was lucky (if these is such a thing) --- there were so many german soldiers that died with no marker at all to show where they died and where they were buried at (during the last stand days) --- their just listed as "MIA" ---- the when, where and how of their deaths known only to them and god.--- looking at the "date" of birth it looks like March 19th , 1924? with his date of death March 25th 1945 ( he would have been only 21 years and 6 days old )--- by looking at the day of death its clear that he died during the "allies" push toward / into germany -- the war was nearly over --- he had to have lived thru the war since 1939 --- sadly for him --- he was the "ripe" age of 15 when the war broke out in 1939and most likely at 17 (1941) or 18 (1942) he was most likely called up for the "draft " and most likely had fought for about 3 or 4 years --- how sad to fight all that time and survive all the horrors world war 2 had to offer , only to get killed in the "last" days of the war --- fighting and dying for what by then had to be clear was "a lost cause" . Wow to think he probably wasn't fighting close to home and his family went to the battlefield to find him.

Thanks for sharing this photo with us.
