Evacuated. No flood insurance.. State and county disaster area.. Lost everything to a fire 3 years ago and now this.. Maybe a cardboard box is in order!! Easier to replace!!! Think I'd would be used to loosing everything by now.. Water started to recede.. Looks like the bottom of siding a few window gone..Foundation maybe partially gone also..
Might be a while before I post again..
Ray

Ray, I'm so sorry. My house got wiped out in the flood of 93, so I can kind of relate what your going through. Ray, when the water goes down, your going to need somethings. If your house has a basement, you might need a sump pump to get the water out. You'll need a power washer and a lot of bleach. Get everything out of the house and cut the drywall at 4 ft. if the water didn't get that high to the ceiling if it did. Clean everything and get it drying out as quick as possible. Dang Ray, hang on buddy.

I heard it was bad down that way but when it happens to someone you know (through TNet) it hits home even harder.

My best wishes for you to pull through this ordeal.

Hello Ray, We haven't spoken but my house was destroyed by the July 2003 flood in Indiana. We weren't allowed to purchase flood insurance then but it's required now in this area. First off I hope that you get declared a disaster area so that you are elligible for a FEMA grant and maybe a trailer. After things calm down file a request for official copies of your old tax forms from the IRS. Do this right away because it will take months to get them. Best would be if you can find your original copies and just dry them out. Use the certified estimates of the FEMA inspectors for your loss total and then refile the past five years taxes and claim those losses. You may get back every penny that you paid the feds for the last five years. Over and above that they will pay you interest on the money you paid them. I was able to get back over $25,000. The bill at H&R Block ran about $500 for doing the forms. My new house is about 45 feet higher than it was then and in the same town. Good Luck to you. siegfried schlagrule
