I would so buy that bed! Where do you find burlwood? I've never seen it here and I'm in the woods more than most.
What a talent you have, thanks for sharing it with us!

Thank You Sara,

This is lodgepole pine burlwood, and these kind of burls are usually found above 6000' elevation.

Many Thanks to ALL,

Ron

Hi civilman,

I just use a 1 5/8" hole saw on the ends of the vertical pieces for a guide, then fiddle whittle the tenons down with a chainsaw, grinder and orbital sander until they fit in the 1 1/2" holes.

The cross pieces that connect to the posts are more complicated.

I begin by starting a tenon on the end of the cross member with a 2 1/8" hole saw. Then grind off some of the wood with an angle grinder using a 36 grit disc to expose part of the tenon. Place the the end of the tenon in the hole, then scribe the shoulder with a scriber ( a tool sort of like a compass.) Then grind away all the excess wood to the scribe line.

Don't know if this makes sense. Wish I would have taken pictures of this process.

Thanks for you comments,

Ron

Make's all the sense in the world Ron....Just like I pictured it.Thank's for the reply....I'm glad there's people out there that see the natural wood as art and have the mind and ability to transfrom it in what you all have done. Can't wait for the next piece.....

Ron,

Every once in a while I get to see a piece of work that really impresses me.
thanks for showing us that a work of art is a special creation,
whether born of nesesity or the creation of a stimulated mind.
It matters not.
