RR...The ground is pretty much frozen around here..I've limited my detecting this winter to the tot lots and the beach...but I am planning to return...swinging around the well looks to be a challenge.. :)

Fossis...the trees got me stumped...no pun inteaded..(well, maybe it was)..I don't understand why they didn't just "swallow up" the wire...I've seen some trees with barbed wire running almost through the middle of them.... ???

I have seen a lot of wire in the middle also, the ones I found were 'cedar', & stretched out like your pic, maybe the type of tree does different.

Interesting...the trees in my pics are also large cedars...so you may be right...I can only guess as to the reason..bark composition?...another mystery of nature....
