Great pics! Interesting to see how the fencing became part of the tree and of course the memorial is very touching, amazing how all the branches are so curled in that one. Thanks for sharing!

The 'twisted vines' are (grape vines), we used to cut the straight ones off at the bottom & play 'Tarzan', also 'smoked the small ones'. :tard:

When I was young and dumb ...
a gouple friends and I chose our short length of vine and lit up...

and let me tell you that was the very last time for me.
I promised myself that I would never again smoke any.

It seems my piece had some ants in it and they went out the end that wasn't lit .

LOL.

Thanks for the memory Fossis.

When I was very small we had a long 'grapevine' on a hill behind the house, we used it for years, (never broke).

LOL, that would have been rough, the 'gunk' in them while being smoked, would make a 'cigar' seem mild.

That is the kind of place that brings on a suffering thats hard to get over.
Can you imagine sitting down there and trying to get up and leave because its getting dark. Thats hard to get over, oh the pain of it. You may get over it Fossis,
it will take time. Its like getting back on a horse after its thrown you, so you will have to go back someday soon. Gnewt

beautiful day to go for a walk. the memorial is touching. my heart goes out to the family.
when I was young we would ride the grape vines like horses and pretend we were in Ponderosa. ( I was always Little Joes wife.)

I noticed there were no 'fishermen' at this place, maybe they have a bad feeling here now.
I didn't personally know this boy, but I know how it must be for the family to come back to this memorial.

Great place to take a walk Fossis. Sad a boy drowned, but a nice reminder to the other kids to be careful. Keep these sittes and stories coming!

Another great post Fossis, with great pictures. For those that don't know, those kind of dams are very dangerous. We have one like that on our river and it took the lives of two firemen that were in on a rescue. They pull you in and just keep you there and the water doesn't have to be real deep for them to be a problem Keep them coming Fossis. I haven't been on here much ,too many projects with the family, but I still like to read the posts on here.
