Early B'day, Wow! I never expected 123 pictures. Trail camera.

It was so easy to set up, I needed a little friend to set up the aim, but besides that...piece of cake! I did not expect the results I got, not even close. I set it up at 5 pm ad by 2:48 am I had 123 pictures? We though they showed twice a day, morning and night is when we see them. Who would have thought they were there all night? I'm glad I put the big memory card in!

Very cool CG - if you don't mind me asking, what camera did you get and how much did it cost? I think it might be fun to get one of those myself :)

Oh, by the way... Did you ever go out and get that wasps nest we saw last fall?

Re: Early B'day, Wow! I never expected 123 pictures. Trail camera.

Hey Cubfan! I was looking for a month at all sorts of trail cameras, I decided to spend 200-400 hundred. You know where I live it would have been worth it. Well I read the reviews for all of them and the best reviews were for the one on sale (who would have thought?)

Out of 70 reviews everyone with several cameras said this was the best for the money, and the easiest to use. 5 minute to set it up, you do need 2 people to set it up on the trail (unless you are a kid? BRAT!) I was worried the aim was off, but it was perfect! (first try) Believe it or not .....I found it on sale at Walmart (cheapest, cheapest shipping) for.............READY? $98! No kidding! I was worried, bit the first day, IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a Moultrie 4.0 Game watcher. Do not buy the Bushnell, the name may be there but the reviews are horrid! You can spend more money, but the results seem to be the same. I really didn't expect to get the results I got. I am thrilled! Can't wait to see what tonight brings! :icon_sunny:

Country Girl,

That camera was a great find even if you were not detecting and it sounds like you did your research. Great pictures too and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

How far was the camera from the deer? They came out great. How was the response time? Did you get multiple movement? I'd love to see it work in video mode. Have you tried that?

Hmmmmmm, sorry to ask to many questions but your thread is really cool.

Thanks for your great post,

MangoKnees

What a good idea Country Girl! I love those pictures. I wonder if you'll catch any other kind of wildlife?
I can't believe how much snow you still have on the ground out your way. Thank God mostly everything has melted around my way. I look forward to seeing you at some point, probably during the summer, when the weather is better. I have a bunch of places marked out on Google earth with overlays of the old maps, several of them are out towards your way. I'm hoping they might be decent hunting spots. We'll have to give them a try + I want to give you the VT maps for your Dad. Hope everybody is doing well at your place. Keep the pics coming, they're great!!

Re: Early B'day, Wow! I never expected 123 pictures. Trail camera.

Here is 3 in a row ( I have it set to take 3 high quality pic's in a row, then it's 1 min before it will shoot again). I'm a bad judge of distance, but it's approx. 15 feet from the trough. I can't believe what a wide angle it shoots! I'll probably experiment with the video this weekend, it takes 921 high qualith pic's or 1126 min of video.

Can't wait for spring, never mind summer Johnny, tons of snow left in the woods, some bare spots in the yard. Oh I forgot to mention....I eyeballed a 1897 Indian head penny in the driveway yesterday too.

It amazes me how good of pictures you can get at night with that camera! Is it set off by motion then?

Way to cool!?! That is so great that you are doing this for them. From the looks of it, it has been a long winter for everyone. Thanks for the info. on the camera, now I don't have to do research. Thanks!

EDDE, :sign10:

Sis, it is motion and HEAT activated, that way you aren't getting leaves, branches ect...

You are welcome Wanda. It has been a very long winter.

Granny, I can't wait for the fawns, the deer to come into velvet, the full racks to come in, romping and playing of the little guys. Hoepfully the turkey, bear, coyotes, fox, maybe a moose? I have been tracking out there for years. Now it's time for show and tell!

Re: Early B'day, Wow! I never expected 123 pictures. Trail camera.

A friend (who is a retired game warden) got this image on his father's farm three years ago.

It's a few towns over but he WILL NOT GIVE ME THE SPECIFICS!

To his knowledge no one has shot or even seen this buck since.

PS - NY has made deer feeding illegal as it is feared they can potentially swap Chronic Wasting Disease by sharing grain and getting their saliva swapped. You might be killing them with kindness by concentrating the feed. Spread it out, perhaps.
