not sure, but I do know he wasn't worried about me, I got within about 20 ft and he still didn't fly away

Sure does look like an Osprey. There should be a darker streak behind the eye, just might be missing it in the photo. What a magnificent bird!

it's still hanging around, been here for about 2 months now.
size I'd say is about the size of a crow

Benz, I do believe you're right, the color and size is right. He's still hanging around, saw him last night in the neighbors tree in his front yard
