Great pic of the Stone Dudes!

They were a '70's Rock band, weren't they?

What a fun place to travel...

Thanks for the great pics!

The tunnel is Old Thunder Gold Mine in Keystone, SD . According to our guide two brothers got a grand total of $ 215 dollars in gold during the fifteen years they mined there. It was a neat place .

I really enjoy that entire Black Hills area. Been through there a number of times and still like going back. You can't see it all in one trip for sure.

Kilika,

If you get a chance you need to go. I did my homework and rented a (4 person) fully equiped cabin way off the road for only $ 85 per night . I had deer almost 24/7 around my cabin. You could be grilling out on the deck and they would come over and see what you were doing. I plan on going back soon! I think I found some areas to detect also.

Sweet pictures...... looks like a cool place to check out ....Hmmmm....Road trip comes to mind...Hmmmm.... Maybe when it starts to get warm up there again, I will have to go and spend a few weeks taking in the sights.

Do they serve buffalo burgers? I hear they are pretty tasty.

Yes, if you've never been there, you are really missing out. I've seen many historical sites, statues and buildings but, Mt Rushmore was by far the most impressive. As I mentioned above, that whole area is well worth visiting but can get pretty crowded come summertime.

I was just there last month on August 12th and 13th. It was amazing. Even my youngest college daughter said she felt so patriotic and it was well worth the trip. I took both moms with us to take her back to college and detoured south a bit to see this. The night time program is so worth the time also. I could easly spend a week there to see so much more.

Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Dan,

I stayed in Hill City, SD and the local supermarket had buffalo everything. I ate a nice buffalo cheeseburger at the Badlands National Park . We had a grill at our cabin so I bought some buffalo hot dogs and had them one night . They tasted great and wouldn't mind having them again. I wouldn't mind trying some buffalo steaks but they are quite expensive. About every eating establishment has something buffalo.
