Good pattern developing of severe earthquake shear plate regions, extending the rift from Greece through to Japan Trench and down to NZ, along Aleutian and the USA SA coast subduction then the rift through the North Atlantic as far as George Clooney and the sinking of the Perfect surface Storm off the Spanish islands where perhaps he could have sheltered ... never mind much of this is shallow shock and some deep Himalaya Anatolia shears, even earlier ones down the Jordan Malawi, the plates seem to be shaking up around the Pacific and breaking along the rifts to each side, consistently, which is why I guess San Francisco is on the edge and Peru lift and Indian Ocean plate flip Tsunami occurred. Bit close to Gisborne that as well as memories for Christchurch and Hawke's Bay but rather expected in the sequence. If Africa shocks occur and the Anatolia block which used to be highly active then the earth is definitely rumbling, interesting patterns to follow, tilt and lift. Distant wife's relatives will be wondering if NZ will be able to make a big mess of Christchurch rebuild as so many Kiwis are putting Aus' back together and further events keep adding to the list of works. At least the English Rugby got the boot, sorry about that insult NZ but the UK put them in the Royal dog basket when they got back we shan't send anymore, just some more reminders by 'quake about behaviour in structural engineering.

Thinking this guy must have a background in Geology, I googled him... seems he is a senior lecturer on geology - from Somerset England... I tend to think he's elderly... maybe someone here could find out more....

ANYWAY... he makes some interesting observations, in particular.....

My eyes will be on (and have been on lately) the Anatolia plate - The Aegean Sea has been rumbling! (and now Africa) AND the west coast of the US (as usual).

"the earth is definitely rumbling" seems a little disconcerting coming from someone like this... but from my naive perspective, I would have to agree.

I would not be surprised at all to see the Cascadia Subduction Zone rupture... it hasn't since 1700.
