Kenpodetector, the move went to plan and all is well here in Reno. Job? not a problem since I'm retired.
Got out the other day and hit a local park, found some clad, a key and a silver earring. Ground is frozen 2 inches down :(
HH!

Hi Capt,
Reno has a permit program for MDing the parks. It,s a free pass you can pick up at Idlwyld park. There are also a few MD clubs in town.

Enjoy Reno

Welcome to Nevada! You didn't know you were moving here just in time for fire season!! We don't usually have fires in January :( Despite the frozen ground - loving the snow today! Good luck and welcome!

Permit Program ? Been detecting since 1997 in Reno Sparks Parks never heard of it and never had a problem.. And I really don't do that kind of detecting anymore anyhow so I will never get one. Hey its just another thing to keep track of people.

Hemisteve,
Can you elaborate on this permit program please? Does this permit allow you to hunt all Reno parks etc? Do you know if the outerlying cities participate in the same thing?
Thank you,
Darin

Darin,
The permit is mainly to let you know the rules for detecting in Reno. They want to make sure you don't go digging up flowerbeds and leave unfilled holes in the grass. Reno is a VERY detector friendly city although there are a few closed areas.
The prospecting club I am with also has part of a metal detecting club as members. Our next meeting is Monday 4/28, come on by and introduce yourself. 6 pm at the Spanish Springs Library on Pyramid Way. There will be people there that know a lot more about Reno detecting than me.

If ever you need a job in reno and are still looking, go to renown health website. They have many job listings there for people who have resume and want to work in the medical field. They also have south meadows too. They had great benifits and healthcare second to none there in reno. Its better than the stinky casinos.

Thanks Steve! Ironically I ran into a guy that is also a memeber of the prospecting club. He also mentioned the meeting. I am planning on going.
As far as the permit goes, I have called and called the park office so I could arrange to pick up the permit but no one ever answers the darn phone........I'll keep trying.
thanks again!
