I just bought my first detector, a Garrett AT Pro. Hurricane Sandy just blew through (and blew down my fence) and I'm hoping to get out detecting on Sunday at the beaches. Anybody going I could use some company and some pointers as this will be my first time.

Congrats on the ATpro.
Read the manual and understand it.
Go on Garrett and watch the tutorial videos.
Practice in your backyard.
And finally if you live in Ocean County you can forget going on the beach.
All the barrier islands are off limits till at least Monday.
There is very limited access only to residents showing ID and only in a few certain areas.
It's a big mess. There are still open natural gas lines.

Hope all of you in South Jersey are safe and sound after Sandy. The pix on TV have been absolutely horrifying and heartbreaking.

Take care and my prayers are with you.

I am in Palmyra NJ. Am a newbie and would like to join someone along for a hunt. Just to see what MD you use and which one I would like to get. I am currently looking at a Garrett Ace 250. Still looking around.

Im always looking for new people to treasure hunt with.. If you are in the South Jersey area hit me up, let do some detecting.. I have some nice spots for WWII relics, and also some old towns out my way that pack a lot of history from the 1700's and up. Or i can come up your way.. :metaldetector::metaldetector::metaldetector::metaldetector:

I live in Burlington county. Looking for a MD hunting partner! I just bought a Garrett AT Pro and have about 8 hours under my belt. Would like to find places to hunt relics and coins. If interested, give me a shout.
