Upcoming event that John Speiser sent to me:

The West Caldwell Historical Society, is co-sponsoring a talk at the W. Caldwell Library, 7pm on May 17th titled “George Washington Unplugged – the man behind the myth” by Raymond Frey, Ph.D., a history professor at Centenary College in Hackettstown. The program is free, and open, but pre-registration required at (973) 226-5441.
“He’s probably the best-known figure in American history--but what was George Washington really like? What kind of childhood did he have? What did he do before he became famous? What events in his life shaped his character? What did people who knew Washington think of him? How did he rise to become the "indispensible man" in the American Revolution and the founding of the nation? Join Raymond Frey, a Professor of history at Centenary College, who was awarded the NJ Governor’s Award for Achievement in History. His book, "New Jersey: A Journey of Discovery," is a widely used textbook for New Jersey middle school students. He also contributed to the New Jersey Encyclopedia. Frey has appeared in two television documentaries about NJ history.”
