Strathmere beach detecting question

Hi Fellows
Can I detect or use a metal detector on Strathmere beach? At the end of this beach, I saw a sign that says "No metal detector allowed".

It depends on who owns it. If you go on the website njmap2.com they have tax parcels that show the owner. If the Fed owns it, almost definitely not. If the state, you probably need a permit. If it's the town, you would have to contact them directly.

I just called the city - Upper Township - and they told me the beach on Strathmere is free to detect. The only place is not allowed is Corson inlet because there is Seabird nest under law protection.
