New to metal detecting, just got my Safari yesterday and have not used it yet except air testing it in the house. Have been busy reading the manual and Andy's book. Sure is a lot to digest. I am 73 and retired so I needed something to keep me busy. Suppose to rain today so I will try to get out in the field as soon as I get a nice day. I plan on doing both Beach and Land detecting.

I plan on doing further air testing this afternoon and making up a chart showing both the Ferrous & Conductivity ID's of clad, silver, gold coins and gold jewelry and junk items. I pplan on using the factory settings for the first few weeks until I get use to the detector. Does this make any sense?

Hey Dave! Not sure what part of the state you are in but there are a couple of Metal Detecting Groups near Hartford.
