Hello Everyone,

I sold my Whites detector about 5 years ago and have been regretting it since. I just retired from a local university and decided I would like to get back into metal detecting. I haven't bought a MD yet...still looking. I would definately be interested in hooking up with other "mountaineers" to do some hunting.
I've already found this site to be a wonderful resource and am looking forward to my new hobby again!

I'm looking at several low end detectors since money could be an issue in retirement. I would appreciate anyones opinion on the Fisher F2 vs the Garrett 250.

Thank you owners and moderators for this great site!!!

Hey westy welcome. I started detecting just a few months ago and ended up purchasing the ACE 250. I love that little machine perfect for starting out and it is a coin killer. Dont have any real complaints about it at this time I think most problems are just operator error. I would tell you that you cant go wrong with it for the price. I have found a lot of coins as well as buttons and other relics. Hope this helps.
