Hi all,

I'm brand spanking new to Medal Detecting and just finished my first hunt today!(70cents in clad and trash) I'm focusing mainly on beaches atm because the Park ranger in Everett said I could MD the city parks, but I can't Dig/Probe anything ??? . I did find out that I could go crazy on the beaches so I picked up a Minelab Sovereign GT(after much research on these forums) last week and started my pulltab collection:tongue3: . I have a few newbie questions I hoping the community answer.
If I use the iron mask feature on the Sovereign GT will I miss out on any gold opportunities?
My detector is going off on some rock. Is this normal?
Is there way to find out the depth of a target with the Sovereign GT? (I dug 13" for a pulltab)
Where is the best place to start detecting on a beach? Tide line or Water line.
Thank you to all that reply.

You might consider browsing Sub-Forums: Washington for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome! With the Sovereign GT, you will have to guess the depth. The best time to search is 1-2 hours before low tide, you can follow the surf out and get deeper with out getting too wet. Wet beach is generally less trash, dry sand more trash.

My friend lives in Everett. I live in Mountlake Terrace. We go detecting all the time. Always looking to meet people who like to go detecting. We can be hard core. Sometimes 6-8 hours without a break.
