Hi everyone. I am from NW Florida and I've been detecting since 2004 and belong to a couple other forums but like to cast a wide net on my latest find. This year had been lackluster in the ring department for whatever reason so it was a real nice surprise to dig this up last week. It was deep...Really deep. It took a good 5 or 6 scoops to get it out and when I first saw it, I thought it was a kiddie ring. I finished for the day and finally got a good look at it when I got to my car, and realized that it might be something special. I took it to an antique jewelry dealer where he tested the gold at 18K (there isn't any hallmarks) and said the stone was emerald. (EDIT...I personally tested the gold and it is actually around 22K) He also said that the ring was modern which I'm having a hard time believing. I've had several other people tell me on another forum that it looks 18th century. I'm not an expert but this was my initial impression as well. Any and all opinions are welcome. Its probably the most interesting ring I've found and would like to see what yall think its age might be. Thanks for looking!

First off.. Welcome to Tnet...

Then now the ring...
I would like to start by saying this...
You MAY have just found something really amazing...
BE VERY CARFULL OF OFFERS FOR THIS RING... and do not sell or part with this to anyone for any reason.

I think this should be re-tested for purity... And for good reasons...
UNLESS...
This was also tested for 20ish Karat... BY MORE THAN ONE tester if not yourself.
IF this karat range is established at higher than 19k it COULD put this ring in a whole new category.

I will add more to this response/post as I hear back from you...

Congrats... and I await to hear back on this.

P.S> I just re-read what I posted here... and must add...
I think this ring is something "above and beyond" what you and others are thinking.
BUT...
Would like to see what the definitive tests on purity are before stating any more as to avoid "getting ones hopes up".
IF you are testing...
And have 22k...
Scratch lightly and use this acid... watch results and count in seconds of the "fade".
Report this info back.
With this info, I'm inclined to test it myself. I had to order a test kit and will get it hopefully by the end of the week. I'll let you know what the results are. You've definitely got my attention.

With out going any further...
IMO... you have found a very rare... piece of Spanish treasure.

And regardless if I am right on this...
Treasure or not...
This ring is old... and that stone is killer to say the least... and looks Columbian to the hilt.

This is a banner all day long.

Further acid test for 19+k will aid in determination of age.
Looking for 20+.

And I must add the word "phenomenal" to your find regardless.
Sheeesh
Lucky day.
