I'm new to metal detecting but have done a little research. I'm hoping to get pointers as far as where I might be able to detect here in Brownsville, Tx. Honestly, I'm looking for relics and old coins. In the few hours I've been able to decrepit so far, I've come across almost $4 in change, all clad. I did check with COB parks dept and th y said I can scan.all I want in parks, just can't dig. "Safety concerns". Battle fields are NPS so can't dig there. Fort Brown is a campus, so can't dig there. Is there any place that anyone can suggest where I might be able to leagally detect? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. History research and private property permissions have worked well for me. Good luck.
