Will take this opportunity to say hello and ask a few questions...

I am currently trying to find an affordable quality metal detector and would welcome suggestions...

Have to admit, I'm surprised at the cost of metal detectors allowing for the electronics involved (long term I may design & build my own)...
If anyone has any useful links in relation to designing etc... please post away...

Thanks guys...

I'm building a couple I found on line as they appear to be open-source / open-hardware (as in schematics and parts lists are freely available)...
I will then try to fabricate a coil...

I don't think I should have use the word "affordable", that's for people with some type of income... Looking at some metal detectors and I don't see where the cost comes from...

I would spend about $299 for a professional version (that's what it would cost to build a comparable device)...
