Browse here frequently, what a great resource for a crazy amount of information. Can't say we're ' treasure ' hunters but what we love can be the same thing. The thing is, our state is ridiculously non-communicative ( and wrong ) when it comes to our amazing history. Reading posts , wish members here worked in the state offices.

We have a lot of the same thing, plant fossils in slate found in Schuylkill County ( only a few miles away ), still in anthracite country plus Native American artifacts. We're only a few miles from a small prehistory dig- pretty interesting stuff surrounding that, too. What is insane is the pros insisting no early Native American strayed from that one, tiny spot, ever, not once. Hysterical. More than your life is worth asking the ' official ' folks for information. We stopped, now just look by ourselves. There was a LOT of activity, we know a LOT of nothing.

Happy to see the Pennsylvania sub forum. It'd be great to contribute and I'll try but there seems to be a ton of experience and knowledge here, not sure it'll be worth much! Thanks for all the gazillion amounts of threads- like a free university!

Welcome Charlotte !

I'm from a Little Town near You.
when It comes to artifacts I'm at the Mercy of those who Pick them up & show them to Me :laughing9:

I have Metal Detector Eyes :tongue3:
Until I get a Beep on my Detector My Eyes Rarely see it.
even coins at times.

I used to have Tons of Fern Fossils.
Could walk all Around my Place & Pick up all Sizes
From So heavy I Couldn't pick them up To small enough to fit my Pocket.
But unfortunately The New wave Of Greedy/Paranoid Land owners
Who Only allow Off Road Groups & Hunters who pay a Mint
to Use their Land Has caused the sites to Disappear.

& Yes I find it sad how some will Deny Artifacts Are Artifacts
just because they don't fit their understanding of History :laughing7:
