Just wanted to say hello to everybody and give you a quick backstory.

Years and years ago I became interested in metal detecting. Armed with a cheap detector, my first day hunting I found a 1945 rosie at the elementary I attended as a kid. Well, after that I seemed to find nothing but pull tabs and bits of foil so I lost interest. (Although I did help my friend's Mom recover a gold ring she lost in her yard that was laying on top of the grass).

So flash forward to earlier this year when a buddy hooked me up with a AT Pro and mentored me on how to use it. (Thank you Diggin-N-Dumps!). I'm still a noob a few months along but really enjoying the hobby and getting better at it each time out. It's very addictive.

I was with Diggin-N-Dumps when he found this by the way. Made for a great day.

Since May I have dug approx $84 in clad. Included in that lot is a Sacagawea coin, three president dollar coins and the rest in quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies etc. No silver since that initial dime years ago but have popped out about a dozen wheats.

Some interesting odds and ends that I have found:

"Vote for Milton Oakman for Sheriff" token. Google fu pulled up a 1911 date on it.

Misc loot including a Deutsche Mark coin: (Not included is a ring that my wife wears now. Cheap jewelry but she liked it and it fit perfect).

And of course, the clad pile:

Thanks for looking and hope to get better at the hobby and find more historic places to hunt.

Hi Kevin,
You're in a great area for M.D. & locating the rosary is a great way to start. Seems as if you have his blessings. I cash out my clads every year after I check for Lincoln cent errors. Just the clad along has paid many times over what the MD cost.
take care & Good Hunting!

Thank you all for the nice welcome.:icon_thumright:

I had no idea there was a token database. Very cool! Have attached the photos you requested.

Kevin

PS: Milton Oakman won the election in 1911 and was Sheriff until 1915 according to some online history about the Detroit area during that time.
