Been gone I’d say about a year, year, and a half maybe longer. Haven’t been able to do any detecting or look for arrowheads in that time frame. Tore my ACL, Meniscus, cartilage in left knee leaving major scar tissue, with a probability of going back in for another surgery. The same incident also destroyed my L4-L5 discs completely. They are all gone. Had back surgery in July, they had to implant a device mimicking a disc. I had to go yesterday, because since July I’ve had this pain on the left side of my that won’t go away even after physical therapy, my legs go numb, and swell up. The sorry company I was working for is fighting me for workman’s comp, and has for over a year. I get a small check from long term disability, enough to pay car payment, phone, electric. Also some good news, my wife, and I have a precious little one year old boy. I’m going to get another detector if I get a settlement, and once this pain gets figured out whether it’s a damaged nerve or not. I’m not hopeful of it just being pinched because the therapist have done some exercises to see if that’s what it was and it wasn’t. Not sure what the myelogram I got yesterday said, I should hear from them today. I’m so ready to get better, and get out, and do some digging. We’ve found a bunch of old homes we have permission to as well as community buildings that have cemeteries behind them, so I figure In all the experience I’ve had with those areas, wherever they parked they likely dropped something. I did find a nice arrowhead the other day at the caves up at my uncles place. I’ll try, and get a pic of it up today. I set up a GoFundMe page, if any of you decide to donate even a dollar it would help. I’ve got no money except what goes to bills, and barely enough left for food for a week especially with our growing boy. He was born with a thing called Hirschsprung’s disease where they had to remove a portion of his colon when he was a newborn, because he couldn’t go the bathroom because the cells inside were dead. So that’s also a killer financial burden. I’ll put a link down below to check it out, read it, and see the updates, and what’s going on. Proud to be back with my family here at TN. Hope we still have the same moderators as before, and I hope some of my friends are still alive, and kicking, and finding some killer finds. Here’s the link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/daltons-...e-sheet&rcid=a29362823c1b4f72b01eab89b6df5e94

Sorry to hear about the injury but big congratulations on your little one.
As hard as it might be, I would not do any metal detecting while waiting for an outcome on your case.

I hope you have an attorney just to help guide you in the process and answer questions for you. Timing is critical on medical appointments and filling paperwork. When I hurt my back years ago I almost missed a critical date that would have excluded me from getting corrective surgery.

I would not trust the worker's comp company to do the right thing. They know the injured party has few resources and will delay any settlement. They are all about numbers and know the longer they drag it out the more likely the inured person is to settle for less. Plus the longer the $ is in their account, the more it is working for them to make more $.
Not to be an alarmist, but I know for a fact they can and may place investigators trying to catch you doing everyday minimal activities and then make it look like you are the villain trying th cheat the "poor insurance company", not the injured party.

Best of luck and welcome back.

Sorry to here about your accident. I had L3 down to S1. It took awhile to feel better. Don't rush things. I know how you want to get back at it but take it slow. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your injuries. Prayers go out for your healing. The treasure is in that little boy of yours. Take it slow and don’t push your body but it’s good for the soul, mind and body to get out and do what you love. Eventually you’ll be better but it takes time. After two shoulder surgeries I had to get out and that first day was tough. I could barely swing the detector and my wife had to dig all the holes. I kept at it and after half a dozen times with her help I’m now swinging that detector and digging those holes. The best therapy in the world is doing what you love. Good luck!

You’re correct on that. I had to unfortunately wait for the surgery because my PCP thought it was just hurting due to the way I was walking after knee replacement, I kept telling him that was the first thing that hurt on me.

I had a myelogram done yesterday so we’ll see if there is any other damage in there the surgeon missed, when he put in those two prosthetic discs. My attorney has been battling back and forth with the company lawyers, and even the company. They wouldn’t give me my tools back until just last week, and I’ve been gone from there over a year now.

The attorney sent a letter to the judge asking for depositions from my former boss, who was under the truck telling me to kick, and twist a 800 pound Eaton Fuller with my feet, they’ve protected him this whole time, and haven’t even had him make a statement, and they’ve hid the audio/video footage showing him under there from two different angles. They got a few statements from some guys that weren’t even clocked in, when I was, to say I supposedly talked to them, but like the attorney said, the judge is going to just say it’s hear-say.

I’m not doing anything right now. I tried doing a short hike to a cave at my uncles to do some sifting, not even shoveling, and I couldn’t even do that. My backs just too sore, and hurts too much to twist, turn, or lift something. My leg hurts so much that my attorney is going to have to send the surgeon a letter requesting another MRI, because it’s never stopped hurting either. I never ever complain about pain, but these are the two most miserable injuries/surgeries I’ve ever had( and I’ve had many).

You know it. I have the urge, I’ve been taken it slow, I have a feeling I’ll have to have more surgeries on it.

Don't even TRY until things are settled - one picture can ruin everything! Should've said: One picture taken by over zealous and PAID insurance investigator can take an innocent picture and make it look like you are not disabled -

You’re correct there. I’ve had a buddy who’s had neighbors of his paid by the companies insurance to snap photos of him on his riding mower. He was in a semi rollover accident that was blown off the road and nearly killed him. He broke his shoulder and almost scalped him during the crash. They do manipulate the photos because on his they had him with his bad arm on the steering wheel, and they snapped it as soon as he got on it, but he only uses his other arm to drive it as it has power steering, and has that little turning ball on it so it’s easy to use one hand. I’ve been very leery about everything I do. I only go out at dark, and my wife kicked me out for the third time because I only draw long term disability which is per month, until my workman’s comp attorney gets the back pay, and settlement. They’re a bunch of snakes those insurance companies are, but I see they have to be in some instances now because so many people have abused the system that it makes it hard for people like you, and I to get on disability or workman’s comp. I’ve gotten a lawyer for both. One for workman’s comp, and one for disability just in case I can’t get my workman’s comp back pay, and settlement. Eventhough there’s pretty damming proof against the company as the boss was under the semi with me when it happened, and there are two cameras pointed right where I was at. Their attorney sent the judge a MOTION TO DISMISS, and my attorney sent the judge a letter stating we haven’t received depositions from the boss, or other employees, or the video from that day. He (boss) has never made a sworn statement, and neither has other employees. There was two that did, but it wasn’t under oath, so the judge says that’s hear say if it’s not written statements under oath.

Yep, greed is a nasty animal. Insurance investigators are usually easy to spot and scare off depending on where you live (property type), watch for a car parked in a place never seen before, if you are in a vehicle stop and take a picture in plain view and make it obvious you are writing down his plate number. The insurance company would much rather pay him / her 10K than pay you what you deserve and they will lie, and like you described, misrepresent what a person is doing with no concern at all for you - ZERO.

On the wife thing, might be time for a trade - in :)

True on that. I’ve had one that did that, I set there, and took a pic of them, and their license plate. It ended up chasing them off, I also had a physical therapist who was a workman’s comp therapist who snuck in on me during my normal physical therapy, and tried pushing me past my limit, and I walked out on her, the normal lady up front asked what was wrong, and I told her, and none of them knew her but one. So yeah they’re snakes in the grass just have to watch out for vehicles that aren’t normal, odd looking folks walking around, and you’re right on the wife. I’m not even sure I ever want to get married again, I’m only 33, but like this morning, I plead with my neurosurgeons nurse that I can’t even do my old hobbies or even do what I want.
