I everyone,
I'm B.Scott and new to this forum. Last year my sister gave me a Minelabs Explorer SE that she bought about ten years back but only used once. It seems she found searching on a pebbled beach too much work in retrospect. Although it is an older model and slightly bulkier than the new stuff on the market, it is (was) a top of the model that should give a few years of fun. You will notice from the title that I like overseas. Yes, I moved here 42 years back and fell in love, both figuratively and literally. Though I speak the Dutch language effortlessly, writing in English gives me more pleasure and allows me to express myself more fully.

Well, my Explorer SE took me quite a while to dial in, but now does the job quite well. Sadly, I haven't made as much use of it as I would have liked after a work-related accident put the brakes on much prolonged walking. But it is all healing, albeit slowly. At some point in the future, I hope to be somewhat closer to my old self.

In the meanwhile, I have been doing quite a bit of swimming for my physio training and it is safe to say I can now swim much better than I can walk. My plan at the moment is to use a cheapo PI detector and do an underwater sweep of a bay while on vacation in a resort in Egypt. This will give me a chance to do some detecting without all the footwork. I'm pretty sure this is virgin ground and I am very curious as to what I will find.

The Minelab Explorer SE is a great machine, but as you say, a heavy machine. :icon_thumleft:

Welcome, what is it like detecting in the Netherlands? My father bought a house in the old part of Enkhuizen and we love to visit. The city told me I could not detect the beaches. What are the laws if you ask permission on private land? Is it different in each town? Everything there is so much older. I love the little thrift store there. We helped set up candles for the light celabration. Thanks for any information! Good luck in Egypt!!
