Greetings and happy to have just joined. Retired and slumming joyfully in the Richmond, VA area. Just bought a couple of older/used metal detectors. One is a White's Classic lll Plus. The Disc pot is trashed and will need to be replaced. Not repairable as it is literally in pieces. I live about 2 hours distance away from the Centerville Electronics location and have spoken with Paul. I am very handy with tools and have a decent amount of mechanical and electrical skills ....... I am tempted to replace the pot myself. Problem is I cannot locate either a schematic nor printed parts diagram for this detector?? There is no marking/stamping/label on the pot either. Any advice/info. concerning the pot will be greatly appreciated and put to immediate use. I had a metal detector over 40 years ago that weighed a ton and barely sounded out on finds unless they were large, all metal, and shallow. I think that unit was made by Fisher?? Oh well, happy to be aboard and am looking forward to "detecting again".

Welcome Bob,
No help on the pot numbers but if you find one it shouldn't be too hard to replace. Maybe someone on the site has an old schematic that will help you out,, there is a lot of amazing things that show up on this site. Good luck with your detecting.

Welcome to Tnet from Toronto! :hello:
Congratulations on your retirement Bob, you now have a lot of hours in the day to fill with a hobby like metal detecting.

Technology has advanced a long way in detectors in the past 40 years, my suggestion would be to get yourself a retirement gift of a new detector.
Personally, I started with a Garrett detector, but if you're interested there are some very affordable Fisher machines available.

Here's a link to the Fisher website detectors page... Fisher F Series Visual Target ID Metal Detectors
Here's another link to the Fisher Forum page on Tnet as well... J. W. Fisher's

Best of luck to you out there,
Dave

Welcome to the forum! :icon_thumleft:

As for the POT it may have value markings on it. If not, try using a DMM to determine the min and max values of the POT. Good Luck and Happy Hunting! :occasion14:
