How does one get a NYC Parks Metal Detecting PERMIT?

I tried the link in one of the other posts below. Although it took me to the NYC Parks site,. there was nothing on the site relating to metal detecting or the getting of permits. Would anyone out there know the how-to's of going about getting a permit? Thanks in advance.

No, you DO NOT have to be a NYC resident. I live in Suffolk County on Long Island and I have had mine for about 3 years.

    Stewball1:
Thanks! That's a relief. Now I have to convince my kids that they need one so we can go out together when I visit them.
