Coney Island renewal project

Has anyone in the vicinity/range of Coney Island, kept up with the news the last few days, that Coney Island beach front is slated for a renewal project? New rides, demo'ing of some blighted stuff, etc...

You guys could be in for some good demolition project hunting if this goes over as planned. Here in CA, for example, I'm near Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (the central CA answer to Coney Island). A few times over the years (once in the late 1970s, another time in the early 1980s, and another time about 5 yrs. ago), they bulldozed out sand from under the Boardwalk, to prepare for new footings for a ride being installed. They would dump that sand out on the beach in temporary piles, while the concrete foundations or whatever were being worked on. Those sand piles turned out to be gold mines of great old coins. And since the Boardwalk is set further back away from the water (less salt water contact, and no moving around in the surf), some of the coins came out splendid in shape, especially the ones the had sunk down and were trapped in a sort of bed-rock type layer.

It is still in the planning stages, from what I gathered in the news-hits. Do some key-word googling (both on the google general page, and on the "news" page of google), and you will get some clues as to the start dates perhaps.
