Livingston County here, but originally from Chautauqua County, which is where I started detecting back in 1977.

Well I don't live there, but I will be visiting for about a week to the inlaws in Jamestown area. Would really like to go hunt with someone that knows the area and where to hunt. We will be going up around the 8th of June.

Cuba, NY here...Live in Cuba, work in Buffalo
I am new to detecting...well, I have had a detector for about 2 years but got quickly discouraged when I was finding nothing but clad and pull tabs...detector has been sitting in the closet for the better part of 2 yrs now.
I hope to change that soon though...
I am always looking for someone to go detecting with, and get some pointers from.

Re: How Many Western NY'rs Are here ?

14048 zip code here. My grandfather used to take me hunting with his early-sixties Whites Coinmaster (which still barely works). We found a lot of cool stuff, and I have a lot of fond memories of those days.

I recently caught the bug again after I kept reading about how good/cheap Garrett's Ace 250 is. Time will tell, but it looks good so far.

I'm not really unto cooperative treasure hunting, unless you happen to be an unattached, slim-built female aged 21-40 :D
