    Montezuma Wildlife Refuge

I was doing some research on the buried treasure of the loomis gang and I came across a bit of info that bothers me to no end.
On Montezuma "WILDLIFE REFUGE" you can kill animals but you cant metal detect. Seems logical to me Our government at work

I kept on digging the hole deeper and deeper looking for the treasure chest until I finally lifted my head, looked up and realized that I had dug my own grave.

    Re: Montezuma Wildlife Refuge

We drove up there with our bicycles on the car rack to take a trail featured in a book titles something like: "100 Bicycle Trails in Central NY" or similar.

Montezuma doesn't allow bicycles. I had some choice words for the park office AND the book's author.
We got rid of the kid - the cats were allergic.

That is one huge area... do you have a CLUE where any treasure might be buried there? Or any idea how that area has changed over the years? It's about 36,000 acres.

They think of the liability involved in letting a bunch of metal detector users onto the land and getting swallowed up by the quicksand and bogs...Some places you can sink into the muck and NEVER be found again...I have heard of horses that could not be pulled out with tractors...Although, if I knew where the loot was hidden, you bet your sweet bippy I would go in there at night and recover it...Laws or not...

if you don't drown or get mired, the mosquitos will carry you to their lair and suck all your blood out!
if you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch!
