To create these stands ... I'm using an online CAD program called Tinkercad. It's completely free and is very easy to understand.
https://www.tinkercad.com/

There are alot of beginner tutorial videos on You Tube for it. . Although I do use Fusion 360 from time to time , all of my Thingiverse designs were made in Tinkercad. https://www.thingiverse.com/Glenn37216/designs

You should have no problems learning the program . It's fun once you have the basics down.
Good Luck and if you create something ... upload the .STL to Thingiverse ! :icon_thumleft:

Design update !

I had to redesign the stand. The simplex rod is just way to thin to have any type of weight put on it. (a clamp stand could cause the rod to oval or flatten) So I came up with this idea. A slide on stand. Still needs tweaking but showing alot of promise. The stand slides on to the bottom of the handle. A few more tweaks and I'm going to send some of these out to some Simplex friends to test . Hopefully soon , I'll be able to host the print on Thingiverse. :headbang:

Design change ! Again... :tongue3: After some testing in the fields ... and from user feedback I've made the stand easier to attach. Sliding on was just too hard for us older guys with arthritis in the hands ... lol. So... meet the clamp on simplex stand. squeeze legs... set in slot ... open legs and it pops into place. Squeeze and slightly pull to detach from the detector. I've made 2 sizes , short and tall. this is the shorter version. I will be sending out 3 of these next week for a few forum members to test. I also Will be making a slight tweak to the top of the so that the stand curves into the handle more. Lots of work on this thing but for me well worth it. Keeps my simplex arm up out of the mud and muck. - Made from PLA PLus @ 50% infill.

Never could understand why MD company's did not really address laying a detector down.

I invented this type of stand for my ML well over a decade ago out of tube alum.

@ ARRC - Nice ! I tried using a folding Bipod Picatinny gun stand back in the 1990's on my detectors. Worked well but was a little too long and kept hitting my hip when I swung. I wish I could weld decently..... I definitely would try to make something out of Aluminum if I could.

Yeah no weld ... simply bent tube and using a part from a medical shower chair to attach.

I have been using medical alum for years to make all sorts of coolio MD stuff..

Great part is... you can find this stuff all over yard sales for a few dollars.

Hey thanks for the comment ! I'm not that great at designing. I just keep trying over and over until something works. The spring design is based off of 3d printed "chip clips"you see on Thingiverse The idea for the stand hit me one day last month while I was exercising a hand injury with this thing here : View attachment 1809278 :icon_thumright:.

-Added a locking clip for stand strength & stability. Friday I will be mailing the stands off for those that asked for one. Sorry for the delay. Tornadoes caused havoc on the mail system here in TN.
