Received this from my daughter. Her name is Letitia (rhymes with Patricia) who we also call Tish (rhymes with fish) and Teesh (rhymes with geesh). She said we nailed it. LOL.

In 1994 my adopted son, from Panama, was named Eliaquin. It was a Choco Indian name. The problem was that nobody in the USA would know how to pronounce Eliaquin, or what gender it was.
His friends in Panama just called just called him Eli. So my wife and I called him Aly because this would easily be changed to Alex when we got back home. We moved Eliaquin to his middle name.

You are right. I couldn't figure out how to pronounce it and only knew the gender because you said, "son." He's not going to find it on a coke can, that's for sure.
