I got out today for a quick jaunt, a rare weekend treat lately. I found a copper that I quickly dismissed as a roached Large cent....

Also scored a "kettle" shaped chape for a shoe buckle and a flat button. The key is for the house I discovered right by the NJ copper, and a sure bet since most of it was overgrown.

Fall should be interesting at this site!

Thanks for looking. I always see a lot of beautiful NJ coppers on here, but I've never found one. In fact, they keep just getting worse! Lol

I would have stopped after each of those and given myself a major pat on the back----FN' AWESOME key & buckle. give the NJ about 2 minutes of electrolysis and watch the details jump out. maybe a CAESAREA???

Steve, plz PM me the county found in for the survey. It looks like it is a "T" reverse, which has two obverse possibilities, one is a 1786 Maris 15-T and the other a 1787 Maris 32-T. I base my attribution of it being a "T" reverse on seeing the location of the the U on the side of the left point of the shield and the shape of the shield and it appears the center point of the shield points closer to the letter B than U in PLURIBUS. So look at the samples and see if you can see ANY details on the Horse head side, which would determine for sure if it is one or the other. 1786 New Jersey Copper - Maris 15-T New Jersey Copper - Maris 32-T Don

I was hoping you would see this, but thought there's only a slim chance of ID. That "U" jumped out to me as well. I'll check it out when I get home, and will send you the info Don
