That's some seriously nice iron there Scrappy. Makes me wonder about all the rusted iron globs I've thrown away over the years. Amazing restoration work!

Great post Scrappy. I like the iron relics, especially that sling buckle.

That's a nice trick, getting Brad to do the restoration. I bet karma rewards Brad shortly with something exceedingly cool!

Best to you both!

That's quite a ferrous collection there Steve, and made even more impressive by the work of the Master. Great job by both of you! But you'd better start putting together your own electrolysis setup before Brad decides to start charging you for his professional services. I hear they're not cheap ....

As someone who has processed quite a bit of iron, I can appreciate the time and effort Brad put in. Must be nice to send all your iron away for restoration Steve rather than doing the grunt work yourself :occasion14: looks great buddy

Sweet finds! Congrats!
Great restore job!
We would know nothing about our past if it wasn't for the restored metal items.
The one item reminds me of a trident with all the points on it.

Very nice. Sometimes I get disappointed when I find iron; however, there are a few items unearthed every now and then that I save. Keep up the restorations!

This thread is great on two accounts, as an Ode to Iron (awesome collection Steve) and in recognition to Mr. Johnny Ironseed himself. Brad, if Fe ever became a country, you'd be its ambassador. You've made a lot of people look at iron a new way or actually get into the business themselves, directly or indirectly. Heck, I found an axe head and snaffle bit on a quick hunt tonight, and am just itching to cook 'em!

If you would have told me a year ago that part of my Saturday would be spent happily monitoring the progress of a 200 year old horseshoe in a pot of boiling wax, I would have laughed. But iron appreciation has made the hobby, and my understanding of history, that much richer.

Congrats on those relics Steve, do you have a display case for them yet? I love the contrast between the wood and the iron in the pics, artfully done man.

Thanks for everyone for the comments, and many of them were really compliments to OutdoorAdv. I asked the mods to move this post to the colonial forum. It belongs here. Cheers everyone
