My wife gave me an ACE 400 last week for my 40th and other than a little practice in the backyard I took it to a 60 acre cornfield today and stumbled into a colonial hot spot it seems. I found six 1776 King George III half pennies and 12+ buttons, I'm assuming are from the same time period. I would greatly appreciate some help with gaining more info on my finds. Those are 2nd to third quarter 18th century buttons. Very, very nice job. You have a great site there. When you can, and as often as you can, go back and look for small sounding deep tones. You may get some small Spanish silvers in there, especially next to the iron. Six coppers in a day is almost unheard of anymore. Great going!

Thank you! I found them in the Frederick, MD area and plan on returning asap. I would also like to get hooked up with some local detectorists to help me as i am new to the sport.

Button's are colonial period for sure like Smokey said, mostly Tombac. I hunt the Walkersville area quite often and have a few permission's down there. If you need someone to dig with give me a PM.
