Is this buckle Colonial?

I stumbled onto a permission today, guy says it was a Tavern site in the 1700’s...
Yeah ok buddy I thought....
Found this in a spring between 2 200 year old trees, next to the spring I found what might be an old foundation, or dump.
All I had was the sniper coil and Lesche, not expecting to be in the woods.


About an inch across, might be pewter, might be pot metal.... probably junk, wanna know for sure

It sure looks like it, especially if it is entirely made of cast metal and not die stamped.

Looks like a knee buckle. I see raised edges on the two short sides of the buckle which is where the center pin would have attached to the frame. These should be little holes in those raised edges.

Now I see them!..... yes there are little holes, more of an indentation, not all way through.

The holes should go all the way through. Poke them with a toothpick and see if maybe they are clogged.
