Unusual Ft. Ancient Point? Or Something Else?

Some bad weather heading our way, so I went to the farm and double fed the cows. Went to the area where I found the undrilled pipe. Dug these out in a couple of hours. The celt is nice. The drill is the 3rd one I have found in the area I am digging. The base of the whole point is not straight like most Ft Ancients, and I found it deeper than most of my ft ancient finds. What is it?

Thanks for the posts/info. The ground will be frozen this week according to the weather reports. I do not work during the winter which gives me ample time to hunt/dig. I my venture to the cave I was at earlier this summer. I didn't find anything after about ten buckets of dirt. There is a very steep bank leading up to the cave. And I may take Treefrogs advice and look at the area below the cave at the bottom of the bank. However, I did not look in the back of the cave at all because of the poor flashlight I brought with me. And the roof of the cave was covered with crickets. To much light and those crickets would probably starting falling on me. And of course I would first check the opening for any large varmit tracks. The cave overlooks the Ohio River and I know of a bear that wintered under the deck of a house a few miles from the cave. May throw a firecracker or two in before entering! And I don't run very fast in my winter boots either.Thanks again. Stay warm and Merry Christmas!

Keith, that is just a Concave Base Triangle. We find those all the time on the Ft Ancient spots we hunt here in our neck of the woods.

Wel, actually you are right. Ft Ancient is sometimes referred to as Late Woodland so in essence it is a Woodland piece, just not Hopewell. The Hopewell Levanna Triangles are usually a lot wider at the base and pretty much almost perfect triangles. There is one area around Wrightsville where my brother and I hunted for a while and it seemed like 75% of the Triangles we found were either Concave Base like that one or the Convex Base types with the little ears on each side of the base. Of course since they are so thin about 90% of what we found was broken and just a base or a tip.
